A Top 10 national homebuilder has expanded its operations to cover the southern region of the United States. Meritage Homes has opened a new South Region office in Atlanta, Georgia. The new regional office will incorporate offices in Nashville, Tennessee, along with operations in Atlanta and the Greenville-Spartanburg area of South Carolina, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
The company named James Thrower as the south region president.
Meritage’s expansion follows the purchase of Legendary Communities, a homebuilder based in Douglassville, Georgia. Meritage remains the ninth largest home construction company in the United States.
The company’s operations are expected to be boosted by overall increases in construction employment and residential construction across the country, particularly in Atlanta and the Nashville area.
Meritage Homes, based in Scottsdale, Arizona, maintains three other regional offices in the country’s west, central and east regions.
In business for almost 30 years, Meritage Homes specializes in the construction of energy-efficient residences that also offer elegant design and luxury accommodations. The company is the first among the Top 10 national homebuilders to have all of its projects fully Energy Star certified, according to information on the Meritage Homes website.
Meritage has built more than 80,000 homes in its nearly three-decade existence and has been honored with awards such as Energy Star Partner of the Year. The company has been named Texas Builder of the Year five times, it reported on its website.
